English Premier League - Matchday 6
Matchday 6 of the English Premier League has kicked off with a number of high scoring affairs courtesy of some of the leagues top finishers from last season.
To start the weeks proceedings Manchester United travelled to Southampton. Coming off another 3+ goal win many pundits were confident that it would be a confident showing from United against a Southampton side who had made a relatively unremarkable start to the season. However the game was anything but set United being forced to work for the win and seeming shaky throughout. Romelu Lukaku scored an 18th minute goal after following up a powerful header parried by Saints' keeper Fraser Forster.
Presiding champions Chelsea made easy work of Stoke winning 4-0 at the Britannia Stadium featuring a hat-trick of goals from Alvaro Morata, hopefully one of many for the Chelsea supporters. Manchester City also continued their confident start to the season with a conclusive home win against Crystal Palace. A Fabian Delph rocketed a right-footed shot from range to score the fifth goal closing out a 5-0 win which pushes them into top spot ahead of United on goal difference.
Other fixtures which took place on day one of include: West Ham 2 - 3 Tottenham, Burnley 0 - 0 Huddersfield, Everton 2 - 1 Bournemouth, Swansea 1 - 2 Watford, Leicester 2 - 3 Liverpool
