English Premier League - Matchday 7

As we reach the midway point of this week's fixtures let's review some of the games played thus far.

Man City downs the reigning Champions

A mouth watering clash at Stamford Bridge, two form teams went toe-to-toe as Chelsea took on Manchester City. However sudden news of star City man, Sergio Aguero sustaining a broken rib in a car accident in Holland cast doubt in the minds of some supporters as they visited the home of the champions.

Neither side was able to make the break at the half, the best chance a driven header from Fernandinho kept out by a quick save from Thibaut Courtois. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte looked visibly dejected when in-form striker Alvaro Morata asked for play to be halted to voluntarily substitute himself expressing concerns for his hamstring. City found the lead in 67th-minute through Kevin de Bruyne, the goal which proved to be the winner. A rising left-footed drive from outside the box against his former club saw Manchester City above their city rivals in the table.

United continue winning ways

Manchester United put on a dominant display to beat a dismal Crystal Palace, who are still yet to register any goals, let alone points to their name this season. This result sees them as the first team in English football to have lost the opening seven games without scoring.

United lead within three minutes when Marcus Rashford's excellent work on left wing ended with an incisive ball through the Palace box to an unmarked Juan Mata who converted comfortably from 10 yards. Their second came when Ashley Young crossed to the far post for Fellaini to volley from a few yards out. Fellaini scored again for United's third slightly redirecting a well placed free-kick from Rashford early in the second half. Lukaku continued his goal streak late on to make it four.
