As Premier League action resumes this week with Matchday 8 let's look at the top performers this season, we continue our team of the season so far with the midfielders and forwards.

Nemanja Matic (Manchester United): The player who many believe to be the key Jose needed to get his United plan into motion, and who pundits have predicted early as a front runner for signing of the season, Matic has served as the heart of United's midfield this season displaying great ability in commanding a defensive line when pressed and in dictating the flow of play when on the offence.

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City): The former Chelsea man is shaping up well sitting in a deeper role among Pep's men. He is providing well for the clinical front-men with a good chance at most assists this season should things continue as they are.

Raheem Sterling (Manchester City): Six goals in all competitions for Raheem might be the signal that Sterling is finally finding the goalscoring charm that he has lacked in seasons past putting him at the forefront of City's offence among the wealth of attacking talent present in the squad at the moment.

Alvaro Morata (Chelsea): The spark for Chelsea during the opening weeks of the season, the Spaniard striker has scored six goals and assisted two in the last seven games. Chelsea will sorely miss his presence due to a severe hamstring injury and it is yet to be seen how they will manage without the steady flow of goals he provides.

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City): Normal service as far as City is concerned, Aguero maintains his goalscoring ways netting six times in six games, however another victim to injury via a less conventional accident when he broke a rib in a car accident in Amsterdam he will be sidelined for the next two months.

Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United): Critics and fans alike were quick to dismiss the £75 million price tag, but eight weeks in to the current season and it is now apparent why the Red Devils paid the amount as the Belgian front-man continues to deliver. The former Chelsea and Everton player has answered critics in spectacular fashion scoring 'on demand' and looking a viable favourite for top goalscorer this season.
That's our 'Team of the Season (so far)! What do you think? Agree? Anyone we missed? We'd like to hear what the fans have to say so have your say in the comments!
